The City of Edmonton has many free and low cost leisure activities available. Here’s a few of the highlights:

Art Gallery of Alberta The last Thursday of every month is free admission night at the Art Gallery from 6 – 9 pm. There is also low-cost senior/student membership.

Alberta LegislatureFree tours and an interpretive centre. For more information check out www.assembly.ab.ca/visitor. Or better…on a hot day, turn the kids loose to explore the splash pools, fountains and beautiful grounds of the legislature. Find the historic beginnings of Fort Edmonton on the grounds. Bring a picnic – find some shade and have a great time.

Telus World Of Science: Observatory – Free admission to view the sun, moon, stars and planets. Located south east of the Telus World of Science (142 St and 111 Ave). Call 780-451-3344 to confirm hours.

University of Alberta: Observatory – 5-240 Centennial Centre for Interdisciplinary Science, University of Alberta Campus 780 492-9445. FREE to public Thursday evenings.

Neon Sign MuseumA free outdoor display shows historic neon business signs. Best experienced after dark! 104 St between 103 and 104 Avenues.

Family Nature Nights – Learn about aquatic insects, birds, urban coyotes and the habitat we share with them in Edmonton’s beautiful green spaces. Join local nature enthusiasts to explore the connection between our families and our beautiful planet. Family Nature Nights are free 1.5 hour events that occur in locations across Edmonton. In 2015 there are a total of 6 events planned for Wednesday nights throughout July and August.

Edmonton Public Library – Books, books and more books…but wait, so MUCH MORE! The Edmonton Public Library’s incredible content includes  books, magazines, graphic novels, movies, music CD’s, video games, world language materials, eReaders, eBooks, eMusic, audio books and over 100 databases including same day newspapers from around the world.

Library cards are FREE for all Edmontonians. Become an EPL member and enjoy free easy access to computer services, free unlimited WiFi access, over 12,000 free programs and events each year for people of all ages and interests, one free hour a day of computer use for internet or word processing and printing services, free one-on-one tech help to get instruction on topics such as computer basics, the internet, email, word processing.
